03 / PERSONAL PROJECTS

Personal projects.
Built by hand.

A collection of personal and customer projects, from custom part design and 3D printing to metal fabrication, vehicle refurbishment, and mechanical maintenance.

3D PRINTED PART / 01

4-wheeler light bar mount

A 3D printed mounting solution for attaching a light bar to a four-wheeler's front rack.

Design & fabrication details

Purpose

Mount the light bar to the existing front rack. The photos show the printed mount, installed assembly, and the light in use.

Design & manufacturing

The printed mounts connect the light bar to the existing rack, as shown in the installed-part photos.

PART DESIGN / 02

John Deere Model G valve cover

I designed a lighter valve cover for an antique John Deere Model G pulling tractor, using an existing cast-iron cover as the reference. The project reduced weight while adapting the original part into a new design.

Design & fabrication details

Starting with an existing part

The original cast-iron valve cover provided the reference for developing the replacement design.

Design goal

Reduce the weight of the valve cover for an antique pulling tractor.

CUSTOMER PROJECT / 03

Ranger gun holder

A custom holder designed to keep a gun secure during driving in a Ranger. Starting with a drawing supplied by the customer, we worked through successive design iterations until we arrived at a solution that worked well for their needs.

From customer drawing to finished part

Understanding the request

The customer provided an initial drawing to communicate the concept and requirements for the holder.

Designing & iterating

I developed the design in CAD and refined it through multiple revisions with customer feedback, working toward a fit and arrangement that suited their Ranger.

The finished result

The final holder was installed in the Ranger. The gallery follows the process from the original drawing through the CAD revisions to the installed part.

04 / SENIOR METALS PROJECT

Bed frame

I designed and built this bed frame from the ground up as my senior high school metals project. It was my first experience taking a project from the initial idea all the way to completion.

Design & build details

My first complete build

I took responsibility for the design and the build, following the project through to a finished bed frame.

Fabrication & assembly

The gallery documents the headboard, side rail, and footboard drawings, followed by steel frame fabrication, wood infill, and final assembly.

What it meant

This project gave me my first experience connecting design decisions with the hands-on work needed to complete a useful finished product.

05 / FABRICATION PROJECT

Scrap-steel welding cart

I built a welding cart using scrap steel, turning available material into a practical addition to the shop.

Design & build details

Starting with what I had

I used scrap steel to create a cart for my welding equipment.

From sketch to fabrication

The photos follow the initial hand sketch, frame fabrication, and the assembled cart.

06 / HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT

Go-kart refurbishment

I refurbished this go-kart in high school, gaining hands-on experience working with an existing vehicle and bringing its components back together.

Design & build details

Working with an existing vehicle

This project focused on refurbishing a go-kart rather than building one from scratch.

From teardown to reassembly

The photos show the stripped red chassis and the repainted, reassembled kart.

07 / DESIGN & FABRICATION

Can crusher

I designed and fabricated this can crusher for my grandpa to use, taking a practical idea through design and into a finished project.

Design & build details

Built for my grandpa

The project started with a specific user in mind: a can crusher for my grandpa.

Design through fabrication

I developed the design and fabricated the crusher. The image and demonstration video document the project.

08 / VEHICLE MAINTENANCE

Four-wheeler maintenance & revamps

I have maintained and revamped several four-wheelers, building hands-on mechanical experience through working on different vehicles.

Project details

Maintaining different machines

This collection brings together work on several four-wheelers, from shop maintenance to time back on the trail.

Hands-on mechanical experience

Working with existing vehicles gave me practical experience taking components apart, understanding how they fit together, and carrying out repairs and improvements.

09 / WINTER BREAK PROJECT

Car clutch replacement

Over winter break, I replaced the clutch in my car. This hands-on project gave me experience working on a major drivetrain repair.

Project details

Winter break repair

I used winter break to tackle replacing the clutch in my car.

Drivetrain work

The photos document the car in the workshop and the removed transmission during the replacement.

10 / COMMUNITY FABRICATION PROJECT

Cedar Rapids golf-course bench

I built this bench for Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation for use on a golf course in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The project was completed through a local community college where I was enrolled during my senior year of high school.

Design & build details

A project for the community

This build connected my community-college coursework with a practical project for a local golf course.

From drawings to fabrication

The gallery follows the initial drawings, steel component layout, frame assembly, and preparation of the wood slats.

The finished bench

The completed bench combines a fabricated steel frame with wood seating and a wood backrest.
